Christine Stojanov

Christine joined the firm as an articling student in 2009.  She became an associate with the firm upon her call to the bar in 2010.

Christine practices civil litigation in the areas of personal injury, property damage, occupiers' liability, products liability, professional negligence, coverage and subrogation matters. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, Canadian Defence Lawyers, and the Toronto and Hamilton Law Associations.

Christine earned her J.D. from the University of Western Ontario in 2009.  She also holds a B.A. (Hons.) with distinction from the University of Toronto, which she received in 2006.

Issue 7 - Brandiferri v. Wawanesa Mutual Insurance: Ont. Super. Ct awards punitive damages against homeowner's insurer for calculated mishandling of fire claim

In a recent Ontario Superior Court decision, Brandiferri v. Wawanesa Insurance, Justice Lauwers awarded $100,000.00 in punitive damages against Wawanesa, the plaintiffs' home insurer, for its "high-handed litigation strategy" and breach of its duty of good faith in adjusting the plaintiffs' fire insurance claim.
