Roseanna Ansell Vaughan

Roseanna Ansell-Vaughan was called to the Bar in 2002 and joined Hughes Amys' Toronto office as an associate in July 2011.  Previously, she was an associate with a prominent insurance defence litigation boutique. 

Roseanna’s defence-oriented practice includes a wide variety of general insurance liability issues, including motor vehicle accidents, occupier’s liability, professional responsibility matters, products liability, property loss, mass tort, construction negligence, and insurance coverage issues.  She has experience in complex, multi-party litigation, at the trial and appellate level, and with unusual proceedings such as Pierringer agreements, recusal motions, and Rule 57.07 claims.   

Roseanna has written many articles and spoken regularly at seminars on a variety of legal topics, including the Court of Appeal's treatment of the Limitations Act 2002,, the summary judgment motion under the new Rules of Civil Procedure, and the discoverability principle.  Her case comments appear frequently in Full Coverage, the OBA Insurance Law Newsletter.

Currently, Roseanna serves as the Program Coordinator for the OBA Insurance Law Section Executive.

Roseanna is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates Society, Canadian Defence Lawyers, and the Medico-Legal Society.

Roseanna completed her articles as a clerk to Justice Robert A. Blair.  After obtaining a B.A. in Political Science from McGill University, she received an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa.  She also holds an LL.M. in Law & Technology.
