Mario R. Pietrangeli articled with the firm and has practised with the firm, as an associate and a partner, since his call to the Bar in 1984.
He is now a senior partner.
He is frequently retained by property and casualty insurers, other institutional clients and private individuals to address claims for
personal injury and property damage, insurance coverage disputes and professional liability claims, including claims against lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, trustees in bankruptcy and receivers. Mario also acts in commercial litigation matters, including claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholders disputes, debtors and creditors rights, advertising and entertainment law, and intellectual property matters.
Mario has appeared at all levels of court in the province, including lengthy trials such as Fellowes McNeil v. Kansa and Robb v. CRCS. He has also presented appeals to the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal, as well as applications for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada.
He has served as an instructor with the Bar Admissions Course, the Trial Advocacy course at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Expert Witness Evaluation session of the Diploma in Investigative and Forensic Accounting (DIFA) Program of the Rotman School at the University of Toronto. Mario is also a frequent writer and speaker.
Mario obtained his LL.M. in Civil Procedure and Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1998. He has been certified by the Law Society as a Specialist in Civil Litigation since 1999. Mario is recognized in the inaugural edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in the area of personal injury litigation.
Mario is married and has three children. In addition to his litigation practice and family life, Mario is also an occasional musician who composed and performed music for the Canadian documentary film, El Dia La Noche Y Los Muertos (1996).
