Jamie K. Trimble articled with the firm and has practised with the firm since his call to the Bar in 1989. He was made a partner in 1996.

Jamie practises civil litigation out of the Toronto and Hamilton offices. He enjoys a broad practice with a focus on tort and insurance litigation. Jamie is a certified Risk Manager and offers his expertise in legal risk management.

Both insurers and insureds retain Jamie to act for them in coverage disputes involving property and liability policies and to prosecute and defend property, product liability and personal injury cases. He frequently acts in defence of professionals accused of professional negligence.

Jamie is the President of the Ontario Bar Association for 2008-2009.  He has always been active in the OBA.  He has served as its Vice-President (2007-08), as a member of the Civil Litigation Section executive from 1991 to 2006, was Chair of the section from 1996 to 1998, and was the Chair of Professional Development for 2006 to 2007. He was the OBA’s representative on the Toronto Case Management Steering Committee, and has been its appointed representative on numerous other Bench and Bar Committees.

Jamie regularly speaks and delivers papers at the Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Institute and Insight. He also presents client, industry and community seminars on litigation, insurance issues and ethical matters. As well, he has taught Professional Responsibility and Ethics, and Practice & Risk Management at the Bar Admission Course and has guest lectured at Ryerson Polytechnic University on insurance in business.

Jamie was born and raised in Hamilton. He received a B.A in 1983 and an M.A. in 1984, both in history, from McMaster University. He earned his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1987.

In 2003, Jamie had the dual distinction of being certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada and receiving the designation of Canadian Risk Manager from the Global Risk Management Institute. He is the only lawyer in our firm to hold the CRM designation.
