The partners, associates and staff of Hughes Amys LLP announce with sadness the passing of Lloyd G. Harlock, on July 17th, 2008 after a long and difficult struggle with diabetes and its complications.
All who met Lloyd agree that he was truly a gentleman in the practice of law and in his private life. We will miss his leadership, counsel, generosity, wisdom and unfailing good humour.

Hughes Amys LLP welcomes our new Associates, Greg Bailey and Vanessa Tanner.Greg was called to the bar in 2002 and joined the firm as an associate in our Hamilton office as of June 2008. Greg received his LL.B. from the University of Victoria and completed his B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology at the University of Victoria. Greg has extensive experience in civil litigation, specifically in the area of Insurance defence litigation.
Vanessa was called to the bar in 2002 and joined the firm as an associate in our Toronto office as of July 2008. Vanessa received her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School and earned a B.A., majoring in Women's Studies, at McGill University. Vanessa's experience covers personal injury, product liability, property damage, professional negligence, insolvency and receiverships, mortgage enforcement and subrogation matters.

Amber Small completed her law degree at Bond University, in Queensland, Australia, and has been called to the bar in New South Wales, Australia. She articled in Ontario for her call in Australia and, as a result, already has a considerable amount of civil litigation experience.
Conor Wyche comes to us from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he excelled in Torts and Civil Procedure. This past year, Conor has been working as a Legal Division Intern at the Insurance Bureau of Canada where, as part of his work, he kept member insurance companies up to date on property and casualty related decisions.
Firdaus Walele was called to the bar in South Africa and practised law for 5 years, specifically in the areas of employment and motor vehicle claims. Having completed the Accreditation Program at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, Firdaus is now completing her articles in our Hamilton office.
Michael Teitelbaum and Jamie Trimble will be speaking at an Ontario Bar Association program on October 28th on "Insurance Law: What You Need to Know".
The 2008-09 edition of Ontario Insurance Law & Commentary, of which Michael Teitelbaum is the Consulting Editor, has just been published. This book contains a commentary on insurance law prepared by Michael, with the assistance of Frances Bertucci.

Mario R. Pietrangeli has practiced with Hughes Amys LLP since his call to the Bar in 1984. He is a senior partner.
He is frequently retained by property and casualty insurers, other institutional clients and private individuals to address claims for personal injury and property damage, insurance coverage disputes and professional liability claims, including claims against lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, trustees in bankruptcy and receivers. Mario also acts in commercial litigation matters, including claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholders disputes, debtors and creditors rights, advertising and entertainment law, and intellectual property matters.
Pam Stevens spoke at the Canadian Institute's 6th Annual Forum on Winning Personal Injury Cases on the subject of Videotaping of Defence Medical Examinations
Pamela (Pam) M. Stevens joined the firm after she was called to the Bar in 1979 and has been a partner since 1982. Pam has a defence insurance civil litigation practice is which she focuses on the defence of both personal injury claims and accident benefits claims for insurers.

Richard F. Horak has been a partner since 1982 and has practised with the firm since his call to the Bar in 1979. Although Richard practices principally out of the Toronto office, he also regularly works out of the Hamilton office, serving clients in Hamilton and in the Niagara Peninsula.

Jennifer Huneault was called to the Bar in 2003 and joined the firm as an associate in January 2008. Previously. Jennifer is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association.
Jennifer received her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall. She completed her B.A. on the Dean's Honour Roll at York University.
