Laura earned her L.L.B in Scots Law from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 2007. After coming to Canada in 2008, she completed her NCA qualifications at the University of Toronto. During her time at the University of Toronto, she participated in the Borden Ladner Gervais Client Counseling Competition and the International Competition for Mediation Advocacy. She also volunteered with the Downtown Legal Services Clinic. Laura joined Hughes Amys LLP after being called to the Bar in June 2012.
Laura practices civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance defence in the areas of personal injury, property damage, occupiers' liability, wrongful dismissal, and products liability. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Hamilton Law Association, the Hamilton Lawyers' Club, the Hamilton Medical-Legal Society, The Advocates' Society, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Bar Association.
Laura is an active committee member of the Hamilton Lawyers Association New Lawyers Subcommittee. Laura is also the Volunteer Chair on the GenNext Brant Executive. GenNext works with the Brant United Way and its community partners to get people in their 20s and 30s engaged in our community through volunteering, giving and action.
Laura is married with one daughter.
